For many students, Durham is their home away from home.  We put together this guide to help you find  things you will need while your at UNH.

UNH Clothing

If your attending UNH, you or your parents are likely going to want to buy some UNH clothing.   There are two stores on Main Street that have a wide selection.

  • Hayden Sports  44 Main St.  Look for their coupon that entitles incoming freshman to a free T-shirt.  Large selection of shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and gifts.  

  • Town and Campus  60 Main St.  Shirts, sweatshirts, and UNH accessories.  Be sure to redeem your orientation coupon. 

Used books are cheaper

Don't forget one for mom and dad 

Textbooks

Textbooks for your classes can sometimes cause sticker shock.  Used books can help ease the pain.

  • Barnes & Noble UNH Bookstore  83 Main Street.   Located on the first floor of the Memorial Union Building.  They sells textbooks, UNH apparel, and gifts.

Grocery Stores and Pharmacy

Whether you are  looking to stock your apartment's kitchen or are look for snack for the dorm, here are your options.

 

  • Hannaford   5 Mill Plaza  A full service grocery store. 

  • Happy Market  6 Jenkins Court. Small specialty Asian market located next to Lexi's.

 

  • Rite Aid Pharmacy  5 Mill Plaza  Pharmacy and general store.  Don't miss the 4.99 Durham T- Shirts.

 They do carry instant ramen

Where do you get a hair cut?  Here is what Durham has to offer.

 

  • Adara Salon LLC  52 Mains Street.  Their offer haircuts, color, highlights and full body waxing.

  • Diyablo Hair & Body Salon Madbury Road.  They provide quality hairstyling and hair coloring services. It is a Smart Tan-certified salon with licensed barbers, Color-certified experts and a licensed educator on staff. They serve men, women, and children.

  • Hair Excitement 49 Main Street #102.  Unisex salon that provides styling, hair coloring, and tanning.

  • Freedom Cafe 10 Mill Road.  Great coffee and working to end human trafficking. Super comfortable.

  • Amy's Frame Shop  44 Main StreetLocated in the back of Hayden Sports.  Custom picture framing.

  • Even Better Now 3 Jenkins Court.  An interesting  mix of furniture and decorations, They also have a cool collection of games.

 

  • Main Street Makery  42 C Main Street.  Great collection of locally made art and Indie crafts.

  • New Day Metaphysical 9 Madbury Road.  Eclectic mix of. jewelry, mediation guides, and home decorations.

Pizza

Durham wouldn't be considered a college town without a pizza place.  We currently have 4.

 

  • Wildcat Pizza  3 Madbury Road. They offer pies, calzones, subs, wraps, pastas & salads for dine-in or takeout.

  • Durham House of Pizza 40 Main Street. A small, family-owned shop. They have served Durham and the University of New Hampshire for nearly 40 years. Open for lunch or dinner, and late night on the weekends.

  • Domino's  7 Mill Road Unit G.  Pizza, pasta, sandwiches, and wings.  Delivery or takeout, and online ordering.

Whether your parents are in town or you are looking for a change of pace from the dining halls, here are your options.

 

  • Bamee/Azure 12 Jenkins Court Suite 1 . Named after a type of Thai noodle, they specialize in Thai noodle dishes and Asian fusion.

 

  • Franz's Food 46 Main Street.  Located in the Durham Laundry Center, They offer breakfast and lunch items.  My son gives the JB a big thumbs up.

  • Hop and Grind 17 Madbury Road.  Located in Madbury Commons, they make amazing burgers and fries.  Voted one of the best new restaurant in New Hampshire.

  • Mei Wei 7 J Mill Road.  Located in the Mill Plaza.  Chinese, Japanese, and sushi.  They offer a lunch Buffet. 

 

  • Thai Smile 2  13 Jenkins Courts.  Authentic Thai food freshly made to order.

  • Young Restaurant 48 Main Street. A Durham institution that serves breakfast and lunch.  They emphasize local produce and sustainable agricultural practices.
