MUB Winter Farmers Market

December 8, 2017

As we race towards Christmas, does it seem like summer and the farmers market are a distant memory? As luck would have it, the MUB is offering several winter market dates!  They are held at the Strafford Room and run from 1pm to 5pm on Thursday, February 1st and Thursday, March 1st.

What type of things do vendors sell at a winter market?

New England Fishmongers

Tim Rider owns a commercial fishing boat based in Eliot, Maine.  He and his helper Amanda Parks reel in all fish by hand, using rods and reels.  They primarily target  Atlantic Pollock, but  also partner with other small-scale fisherman to expand their offerings. If you register with them by email they'll alert you with what they have.  Leave a cooler out, and they drop off the fish.  Visit their webpage or email amanda@newenglandfishmongers.com

Coppal House Farms

The Coppal House Farm is a 78-acre family farm located on Route 155 in Lee.  As you can see from their sign, they  offer a variety of locally-raised meats. They also have eggs, sunflower oil, and vegetables.

Hollister Family Farm

The Hollister Family Farm is a small farm in Lee that has been selling vegetables since 1988.  As you can see from the honey in the picture above, they also have bees!  Their honey won best in state in 2015.

Vernon Family Farm

Vernon family Farm is located on 33 acres of conserved land in Newfields. They sell chicken, mushrooms, and vegetables.  Their store is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM and is located at 301 Piscassic Rd. in Newfields, NH.

Figtree Kitchen

Figtree Kitchen started in 2008 and specializes in unique small-batch baked treats.  You can find them at Farmers Markets and also at their cafe at the Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth.

Slow Cook UNH

Here are your hosts!    Slow Cook UNH is responsible for these winter markets. They meet Wednesdays 6pm at the MUB Entertainment Center.

Future Winter Markets are Thursday, February 1 and Thursday, March 1 and both run from 1-5pm.  It's worth checking them out.
