Summer Has Officially Arrived
Rainy, cool weather and a slow Red Sox start really dampened my spring enthusiasm, but since Memorial Day has come and gone, we're on to summer. After some amazing advocacy by local business owners, this year's Seacoast Growers Association Farmers Market will be held in Sammy's Lot. Every Monday afternoon from 2-6 PM starting June 3, you'll have a chance to sample downtown Durham and help support and encourage local businesses.
Sammy's Lot Details
The Town of Durham has a leasing agreement with UNH and uses Sammy's lot for central business district short term parking. On Mondays, the farmers will park their vans and set up their stands at the rear of the lot near Sammy's Market. The market will run from 2-6PM, and the back part of the lot will be closed off in the morning to prevent cars from blocking the area. The front lot will still have parking and street parking is available on Madbury Road. The goal of the move is to increase both the market's visibility and downtown foot traffic. Celebrate Durham Table
Celebrate Durham will have a staffed table at the market. Stop by to say hi and find out what is happening in Durham. We are always looking to promote interesting things.
Heidi Chase of Echo Thrift and Friends in Action had the brilliant idea to purchase a flyer holder that we'll have next to our table. Feel free to bring by a stack of 4x6 flyers for local events or businesses. You are also welcome to hang out at our table and talk with shoppers.

New Downtown Businesses
While you are Downtown this summer, stop in and check out these new businesses.
Bubble Bee Tea House- Located in 9 Madbury Road. They offer a variety of drinks including bubble teas, fruit drinks, and smoothies. For anyone with dairy issues, they do offer alternatives. They also have a selection of desserts to compliment your drink. Perfect spot for a warm day.
Oyster River Cycle & Sport . Bikes and summer are a time-tested natural fit. UNH alum and Durham resident Brian Keegan and his business partner Brian Berton opened their bike shop this May. They offer sales of new and used bikes, rentals, service, and good advice. Their goal is to promote and develop the great cycling resources available in the Seacoast.
Baker's Corner offers baked goods and ice cream in the historic blue building at the corner of Main Street and Madbury Road. If you are looking for something beyond tradition vanilla and chocolate, they have a machine that allows them to create custom flavors. Indoor seating is available, or you can take your treats to go as you walk around town.
